Wordpress Minimalistic Events Calendar

Wordpress Minimalistic Calendar Live preview

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Please never update the calendar automaticlly from your WordPress installation since it will not install the correct calendar. Our calendar can only be updated with the version that is found here on CodeCanyon (the one that is available for download is always the last) so only use this version to update.

IMPORTANT UPDATE (MULTIPLE EVENTS)

Multiple events per day are now supported. You can enter up to five events for each day and set the exact time of each event (hours and minutes). Colors of upper part of event icons (currently red and green) can be set in WP Settings Panel. Countdown works with each event and subevent and will count down accordingly.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

We added support for several different languages (special characters). You can download file fonts.swf with added characters for Latin, Hebrew, Cyrillic and Greek. To replace your fonts.swf with one of these simply go into plugin directory and then choose directory fonts. Then overwrite existing fonts.swf file with the new one:

Welcome to our newest WordPress plugin. WordPress minimalistic calendar with Events was build with minimalism and functionality in mind. We wanted to offer you clean, small calendars that still have the ability to offer some informations and even a preview image for the event. In a Flash preview above you can see all the features that this calendar has. You can see how it looks as a widget in our WordPress plugins section at the top of the right sidebar.

There are many settings with which you can adjust your calendar to your needs. Default animation of days when you scroll through months is set to our creative random flying days. There are two more subtles transitions available (a simple fade in and an instant transition).

You can add events via our custom admin panel. Simply upload an image (not neccessary) with WordPress upload form, add your title and content text, choose the appropriate color and url link (not neccessary) and save the event. Our novelty in admin panel is a live preview which provides you the ability to check the changes without refreshing your website. That also means you don’t have to put your calendar live on your website to see the changes. You can polish it in admin panel until you are satisfied with it and then put it live on your site.

Translations are available for all parts of the calendar. You can translate months, abbreviations for days (Mon, Tue,…) and all text for countdown timer.

Countdown timer is a special add-on for your calendar that counts down the time until event takes place. It is just a little candy that adds creativity to your calendar.

Dark and light version available. We kept in mind that different websites designs require different calendar designs. At the moment there are dark and light versions available. If the calendar is well received new color variations will be added in the future.

QUICK GUIDE

When you unzip the files you just bought look for file wp-eventsCalendar.zip. Go to your WordPress admin panel and select “Plugins”. Click on button “Add new” and on next page click upload. Now browse for the zip file mentioned above and click Install now. All you have to do now is to activate the plugin. Settings for the plugin can be found under main settings of WordPress named WP Events Calendar.

IMPLEMENTATION INTO WORDPRESS

You have two ways of implementing calendar into wordpress. You can use shortode ["flashCalendar"] without apostrophes for implementation into posts or pages. ID  has to be unique and width and height should match those in settings. More popular way is implementation with widgets. Simply go to Widgets and drag Calendar widget to your sidebar. All you have to do here is name the calendar.

ADDING EVENTS

In WordPress go to Settings / Flash Calendar. Under New Events Click the icon for adding.

Now set the title of your event (birthday, upcoming events,…).

Upload the image if you have one for the event (not neccessary). Clicking upload image will bring up WordPress form for media upload. Click Select files and search for your image. When image is ready click Insert  into post. Image is now set and ready to be used.

Setting the date is done with convenient date picker. Simply click the date of your event.

Next field holds text content of your event. Enter as much text as you would like since there is a scroller available.

With convenient color picker choose the color of your event (this is the color of a day that holds the event).

Last parameter defines the URL of event. Simply enter URL and then click Save new Event to add the event.

EDITING EVENT

To edit one of your existing events simply click the edit Icon and add parameters described in previous chapter.

MAIN SETTINGS

Size of the calendar is defined with parameter width. Simply enter value in pixels and height will adjust accordingly. Default value is 210px.

Width of border around current day is defined with next setting. Enter value in pixels that will define the width of the border. Best viewed in 2-5px.

Color of border is set via color picker. Simply choose the desired color and set the color of border around current day.

Color of forward and backward buttons. With color picker set the color of your foward and backward buttons.

Color of scroller is defined with next three parameters. Enter colors for scroller bar, scroller button and scroller button on drag (and mouse over).

Color of Event Title and Date. This is the color of text that appears at the top of the event (it’s title and date).

Calendar’s position in the post, page or the widget is set with next two parameters. Enter x and y coordinates to position your calendar.

Transition type. Transition type defines how days move when you scroll through months. Random is default function (the most intruiging one). If you want a more subtle animation choose alpha or instant.

Day order. You can choose between two day orders (monday to sunday and saturday to sunday).

Opening events can be set to either mouse over or click. Click is especially appropriate when you have a lot of events. Mouseover would cause confusion in cases like this (you wouldn’t be able to even get to some events).

TRANSLATIONS

Next three sections contain translations for Months, days and countdown.

Translation for days will translate abbrevations for days (MON, TUE, WED,…). Simply enter your text.

Translation for months will translate months into your language. It’s simple and straight forward.

Translation for countdown will translate the small countdown that is added to event calendar. It is meant as a fun addition to your calendar.

CUSTOM ADMIN SETTINGS

These settings have nothing to do with calendar itself but define some admin parameters. Check how many events you wish to see in admin panel and if you want to see new and old events.
